Open Competitions 2020

We run four Open events each year, as well as our Festival of Golf (see separate page within the Visitors section), which golfers with a current CONGU competition handicap are warmly invited to enter. These events are always very popular and you are advised to submit your entry early. Places are usually allocated on a first come first served basis.

First up is the Veterans' Open, held in the middle of May. This is an 18-holes Stableford competition for teams of three visitors plus one Bearsted member, with the two best scores on each hole to count.

The Ladies Open will take place at the end of June, played as a three-ball team event and is always well supported by Clubs throughout Kent.

The Bearsted Men's Open held at the end of June is a Kent Order of Merit event played as a 36-holes medal for players with a handicap of 18 or below. There are prizes for the best scratch and handicap score.

The final Open event of the season is the Mixed Open. An 18-holes Greensomes Stableford played in fours and this takes place in late September.

Please note that adherence to our dress code is a condition of entry.

Following the announcement by the Government on Monday evening (23rd March) the COURSE AND CLUBHOUSE are closed until further notice. Keeping golf courses open is simply no longer compatible with the updated policy of Government which is designed to save lives in a time of national emergency. The health and well-being of the nation is the only consideration that matters at this moment in our history. The playing of golf does not constitute one of the government’s permissible forms of daily exercise. There should be NO exceptions, NO special cases as golf takes its share of the responsibility in looking out for the health and well-being of all citizens. We will keep you updated as and when we receive further information from the Government and Golf's Governing Bodies Thank you for your support.
