Open Competitions

Introduction

We run four Open events each year, as well as our Festival of Golf Week, which golfers who are members of an affiliated Club with a current WHS handicap are warmly invited to enter.

These events are always very popular and you are advised to submit your entry early. Places are usually allocated on a first come first served basis.

Veterans Open

The Veterans' Open will be held on Wednesday the 7th of May. This is an 18 holes Stableford competition for teams of three visitors plus one Bearsted member, with the two best scores on each hole to count.

This event attracts teams from all over the South East of England and is regularly over subscribed so submit your entry form early.

Men's Open

The Bearsted Men's Open will be held on Sunday the 25th May 2025, this is a Kent Order of Merit event played as a 36 holes medal for players from an Affiliated Club with a handicap index of 15.9 or below.

There are prizes for the best scratch and handicap score.

Festival of Golf

The Festival of Golf will be held from 16th - 22nd June, with visitors invited to play in the midweek competitions. Formats are:

Monday - Seniors Day (Pairs Betterball Stableford)
Tuesday - Individual Stableford
Wednesday - Bearsted Bruin (invitation day for Club Captains & Vice Captains)
Thursday - 4-Ball Waltz
Friday - Team Texas Scramble.

Separate prizes for best visitors, and members.

Ladies Open

The Ladies Open will be held on Thursday the 28th of August. This is played as a three-ball team event and is always well supported by Clubs throughout Kent.

Junior Open

The Bearsted Junior Open will be held on Monday 28th July, tee times start from 12.00 midday.

18 holes medal, scratch and handicap prizes on offer, as well as 'nearest the pin' and 'nearest the pin in two'.
